TEEKANNE Ostfriesen tea consists 100% Assam tea. The tea leaves are picked by hand in the traditional tea gardens of the Indian region of Assam.
The selection of the best teas in this region gives the TEEKANNE Ostfriesen tea its unmistakable harmonious and powerful taste. A taste that not only the East Frisians love.

Tarefully selected Assam tea leaves are dried, fermented packed based on traditional East Frisian methods. For centuries, black tea is a hot beverage of choice in this windy, cool region of East Frisia, along the North Sea coast of Germany.

Mixed and packed in Germany by Teekanne, one of the world's largest purveyor of tea and Germany's leading tea brand. Based in Düsseldorf (North Rhine Westphalia), the family-owned company (founded in 1882) invented the flow-through tea bag, a technology used in virtually every hot tea product today.

Assam : Northeast India, with around 36,000 km² the largest contiguous growing area in the world. Production there primarily uses the CTC production method. Teas from the "Second Flushes" production have a strong to very strong cup, a full-bodied, malty character and are well suited for preparation with milk or cream.

When it comes to tea drinking, there’s one region in Germany in particular – East Frisia – where it has become a ceremonious act. The East Friesians are the biggest tea drinkers in the world, even more than the British. In 2016, the East Frisian Tea Ceremony is granted UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Cultural Heritage status.

East Frisian tea blend : Blend of strong Assam varieties with beautiful gold tips. Because of the outstanding importance that tea enjoys in East Frisia, an East Frisian tea culture developed over time. The Teetied (tea time) is considered an important part of East Frisian sociability. With around 300 liters of tea, the East Frisians have the largest tea consumption per capita in the world. Traditionally, an East Frisian blend consists of up to 80% Assam teas.
