Pork and Veal Loaf
Pork and Veal Loaf (cooked)
Our pork and veal loaf is a fine-ground loaf similar to Leberkaese, but milder and includes no nitrites. It makes an excellent lunch or a quick, easy evening meal. Its mild flavor makes it a great choice when entertaining children.
Approx. Weight: 2 lbs.
This loaf is fully cooked and can be eaten cold, but we find it tastes best when heated.
To heat as slices: Cut in 1/2" to 1" thick slices and fry in pan with butter until browned and crispy. Serve with a fried egg on top and potato salad on the side. For a cookout, try cutting it into thick strips and grilling on skewers.
To heat an entire loaf: Defrost completely and remove from plastic bag. Heat oven to 325°F. Put loaf in a baking pan with a little water on the bottom. Heat uncovered for 75-90 minutes, and serve hot from the oven in thick slices with mustard and potato salad on the side.
Will keep up to 1 week after arrival if refrigerated in original vacuum-sealed packaging. Should packaging become loose—indicating an air leak—remove sausage immediately and wrap in paper towel.
You can freeze this item for up to 2 months without affecting flavor or quality. If frozen, defrost slowly in refrigerator; do not thaw at room temperature.
